Ini Checker Posted February 12, 2009. By Creator. Everybody knows that Generals form "ReleaseCrashInfo.txt" file with information about last error. And also World Builder can find some errors. But they don't find all errors. In particular, they don't tell you about missing strings, missing sounds, missing particle effects. Missing starting units as well as missing upgrades will cause game to crash. Links to missing objects in OCLs are not displayed anywhere. And so on. There are many errors which can not be detected by WB and engine. This is why I decided to make a tool which finds errors in ini code automaticly. This tool analyses ini code and displays you information about the following: 1) Redefined things (the ones which had been defined in code 2 or more times) 2) Missing links (links to objects, OCLs, FX lists and other stuff which does not exist) 3) Unused things (Yes, ini code has tonns of trash. But be careful with it. Some of these things can be used in scripts or maps). Additionly, it gives you information about: 1) A number of upgrades in code and informs you how many of them can be added. 2) Not used Damage Types, Death Types, Enums and Radius Cursors. You can use them later. I made this tool to fix errors in Contra In the begining. But I have decided to make it public now. Installation for PC users Unpack the archive to any folder on your computer. Run "ContraLauncher" file. Select language and music you wish and click "Launch" button. Launcher will automaticly locate the game, copy all necessary files and launch Zero Hour. When you exit the game launcher automaticly deletes all Contra files from Zero Hour folder. Launcher has the option - "Leave the mod attached to Zero hour on exit". It tells it don't to delete Contra files from Zero Hour folder. If files are not deleted then the mod stays attached to the game and you can start it without launcher - just start the game. Contra will start automaticly. If you want to deattach Contra from Zero Hour then start the Contra launcher and click "Exit" button. WARNING: It is strongly recommended do not to move, copy, delete or change content of Contra and Zero Hour files manualy. It will definitely cause serious troubles such as crashes, network mismatch errors and other problems. 2.2. Installation for Mac users Since Launcher is not compatible with MacOs, you have to copy Contra files manualy. To do so copy folowing files and folders from Contra mod into your Generals Zero Hour folder: Data (whole folder) !Contra006.big !Contra006-eng.big !Contra006Music.big game.dat 00000000.016 00000000.256 Ariag.ttf Install_Final.bmp Some of these files are already exist in your Generals Zero Hour. It is recomended to backup original files before overwriting them. 2.3. Installing music packs. Contra music packs are packages which contain alternative music for Contra. Music packs will not work in conjunction with with any other mod as well as with original game. They work with Contra only. Also you can not have more than one music pack attached to the game at a time. Once you download a music pack, place it into Contra folder and run Contra Launcher. It will automaticly detect available music and suggest you to choose one of the packs. If you are a Mac user then you can not run Contra Launcher. In such a case you will have to copy music pack manualy to Generals Zero Hour folder. Remember that it must not be several music packs installed at a time. Hi everybody. It is second big block of news about the part of work completed for some last weeks. 1) I completed B1 Lancer skining. It is my second attempt to draw 512x512 texture. This skin took very long time. I drawn it once, then I did not like it, I erased everything and drawn it second time, then I din not like it again and started evetything from scratch once more. At last, I completed it. Now Challenge Mode is available to play. 5) Contra 006 closed beta testing has been completed. Testers found many bugs and also made many suggestions. I have already fixed 99% of errors and made many news additions and adjustments. In general, I made over 100 changes including bug fixes. 6) Many players did not like previous versions of Contra because of rank system. It was hard for them to gain ranks and get access to new units. Contra 006 will be a bit different. I found out how to make buyable experience. Now experience and general's promotions can be bought for money in Command Center. I suppose that it will attract more players. This new addition will not ruin gameplay. The cost of experience had been calculated properly. For example, to gain rank 2, you need o destroy 16 Battle Masters. The cost of 16 Battle Masters is $12800. To buy second rank for money, you have to spend $12800 as well. That is, the cost of each rank is equal to the cost of units you must destroy to gain it. Also these 2 methods of gaining experience work together. You can destroy enemy units AND spend money to get promotions faster. 7) Web site has been updated. I completed all tech trees for all generals and uploaded them. You can take a look at them by clicking generals descriptions in left menu. So, I had not enough time to post Contra news. All this time me with Woody were drawing new models and textures. Now I want to represent all we made for some weeks. 1. I've got another level up. I've learned how to create infantry models. My first models are Col Burton with BFG-9000 and new weapons for snipers. I remade GLA aviation. I removed all Demo general aircrafts - Winged Missile, Transport Missile and Sky Scourge. They looked very bad. I decided to replace them with other units. L-29 moved from Assault general to Demo general. Assault has no aviation now. Demo general L-29 has another role. Earlier it was conventional plane armed with bombs. Now it is suicide bomber. Also I added new suicide interceptor for Demo general - Zipper. Woody completed Iron Dragon skin. This new model will replace the old one for Nuke general. By the way, Iron Dragon weapon is remade too. It fired cannon earlier. Air Force general has got new planes for its heavy aviation. Earlier he could build C-130, B-2 and B-52 at his special airfield. All these planes were scraped. C-130 had been replaced with C-27. I told about it a while ago. You can find C-27 in earlier news. Now we completed 2 other models: Wyvern - replacement for B-2 and Chimera - replacement for B-52. Wyvern has the same characteristics as B-2 had. It is stealth, requires 5th rank, costs $4500 and armed with 5 powerful bombs. It lays all 5 bombs in a line which makes it effective versus large groups of enemies. Chimera characteristics are very close to B-52. It requires 3rd rank, costs $3000 and plays the role of flying artillery. It is armed with AGM-86 cruise missiles which have the same attack range as Tomahawks had. The only significant difference - Chimera has 6 missiles (B-52 had 4). Single AGM-86 missile brings as much damage as Tomahawk. By Creator. Yes, I've got level up. +1 to skining skill Recently I learned how to make good textures. Thanks to Woody. Studying of his tutorials and textures allowed me to make a step forward. First of all I reskinned my old GLA L-29 gunship. It took 2 days. Look at the result: ![]() And look at the old one. Feel the difference. I did not change resolution - new skin is 256x256 too.
